He gave a fillip to the Janapada development and was instrumental in bringing recognition to the Janapada art. With the support and encouragement of Shri.Nagegowda and Shri. Go. Ru. Channabasavappa, he organized Janapada seminars at district level throughout the country. Shri Narayana nurtured the idea that folk culture should be preserved and developed. During his tenure as president of Kannada Sahitya Parishath he arranged for a detailed study and scrutiny of folk culture thought out the country He employed a fleet of young and enthusiastic people for this task. As a result of this 'Karnataka Janapada Kalegalu' a book on folk culture was published under the editorship of Shri. Go. Ru. Channabasavappa. This publication earned the distinction of being the first book in the field of Janapada. In addition to bringing out this book Shri. G. Narayana was instrumental in making documentary films on Janapada Art.
It is not an exaggeration to say that G.Narayana who arranged a public felicitation to H.L. Nagegowda on his retirement from government service and presented a purse was responsible for the birth of Karnataka Janapada Parishath.
G. Narayana a doyen in the field of Janapada has played a pivotal role in establishing institutions by dynamically extending encouragement for the growth and development of Janapada movement.
No one is able to keep account on the number of felicitations and awards bestowed on Sri. Narayana for the selfless service rendered by him.
